The Monkey Bar Store
The inspiration for The Monkey Bar Store was born from a combination of personal experience and professional expertise. After spending time abroad, founder Iain noticed a stark contrast in the availability of high-quality, durable metal monkey bars. In the UK, options were limited.
More importantly, many existing designs prioritised aesthetics over function, focusing on appearance rather than creating equipment that was practical, engaging, and truly enjoyable for children.
The motivation behind The Monkey Bar Store was deeply personal. As a parent of three energetic children, Iain set out to create monkey bars that were more than just playground equipment—structures that would inspire children to climb, swing, explore, and challenge themselves.
The vision extended beyond children's play. The goal was to design monkey bars strong enough for both children and adults, allowing families to play, exercise, and bond together.
With a background as a Chartered Structural Engineer, Iain applied his expertise in materials, design, and load-bearing structures to develop a sturdy, freestanding metal monkey bar frame. Unlike traditional playground equipment, these structures were designed not just for durability but to provide an interactive, adventurous play experience with functionality and child-driven play at the core.
Today, The Monkey Bar Store is a trusted name in outdoor play, known for its commitment to quality, inclusivity, and innovation. What began as a personal need for a better product has grown into a company with national reach and international interest.
